Green Light
Before LANKS releases his upcoming sophomore EP, we wanted to take some time to soak up the gem that is ‘Green Light’ taken from his debut EP ‘Thousand Piece Puzzle.’ We stepped into the living room of the multitalented LANKS’s own home and filmed him performing a stripped back version of ‘Green Light’, alongside vocalist Jess Bonnitcha.
LANKS is the Melbourne based singer-songwriter and producer Will Cuming, who has made a name for himself in the early days of his career, receiving endorsements all over the world, from triple j to NME. He has landed support slots with the likes of Broods, The Acid, Andy Bull, The Antlers, Jarryd James and Mansionair. It’s no surprise that the renowned NME named LANKS a buzz act to watch.
The man has an innate talent of mixing folk storytelling with electronic music, it’s this stripped back version of ‘Green Light’ that highlights LANKS’s talents, layering textures on a loop pedal and nailing it in one take. LANKS emotionally pulls you into a relaxing state of melancholy, combining lyrics and melodies that sooth the soul.
LANKS’s creativity shines beyond just the music itself, the entire project from artwork, to handwritten social media posts, to videoclips show talent beyond the forefront.
LANKS’s sophomore EP ‘Banquet’ was mixed by Andrei Eremin (Oscar Key Sung, Chet Faker) and is now available for pre-order on iTunes. The first two songs he has released via SoundCloud have unsurprisingly clocked over 100,000 listens.
LANKS will grace the stage in a run of seven headline shows for his ‘Banquet’ EP Tour throughout July.
